Overview
The SF LGBTQ Speakers Bureau places trained LGBTQ volunteer speakers in schools, universities, and community organizations across the Bay Area to share personal stories and build understanding. As Associate Director, Zed managed the full operational scope of the bureau — from volunteer training and speaker placement to communications, workflow systems, and content strategy.
Contributions
- Managed speaker placement operation across 70+ trained volunteer speakers
- Coordinated speaker bookings to 25+ Bay Area schools and community organizations
- Designed and ran comprehensive speaker training program for all incoming volunteers
- Formalized 6 major workflow processes for intake, matching, scheduling, and post-event reporting
- Owned all content streams: social media, mailing list, and blog; managed 3-person content team
Outcome
Transformed the bureau’s operations from ad hoc coordination into a formalized, scalable system — increasing placement capacity, improving volunteer experience, and significantly raising the bureau’s public profile through consistent content strategy.
